Unbelievable : See Why President Barack Obama Can't Have iPhone

The troubled cell phone creator BlackBerry still has a minumum of one really devoted client: U.S. Leader Barack Obama.

At a meeting with youth on Friday to promote his landmark healthcare legislation, Obama claimed he is not allowed to use Apple's smart phone, the iPhone, for "protection reasons," however he still employs Apple's tablet computer, the iPad.

How dangerous is a blow to the head?- Schumacher fighting for his life

Damaged vessels can bleed out, compressing the brain

How the brain is susceptible to damage after impact

As Michael Schumacher remains in a critical condition after a ski accident, experts warn that even a seemingly minor head injury can have major consequences.

Any knock to the head can be dangerous, although thankfully most are not.

The brain is a delicate, blancmange-like organ that is vulnerable.

Although it is protected by the skull, rapid forward, back or twisting movements of the head can send the brain crashing against this bony box.

Even mild injuries of this sort can produce diffuse injury.

How the brain is susceptible to damage after impact
Concussion graphic
At first there may be no noticeable damage - at least on the outside.

Indeed, people who have been in serious collisions may appear lucid and unscathed on first inspection.

But it can take up to 48 hours for symptoms to appear.

The BBC's Science Editor David Shukman assesses the type of injury sustained by Michael Schumacher
Anyone who has had a blow to the head should seek immediate medical attention regardless of how mild it might seem.

Worrying symptoms

Disorientation or drowsiness
Vomiting
Problems balancing
Weakness in the arms or legs
Clear fluid or blood from the ears
Problems understanding or speaking
Blurred or double vision
Severe headache
Fits or faints
Loss of consciousness
The force of the blow can cause the brain to twist, damaging nerves and tissue.

The skull's sharp interior ridges can tear arteries and veins running through the brain, allowing blood to leak.

As with any injured body part, there will be swelling and bruising too.

With nowhere to escape, the pressure can build and squeeze the brain.

This is a medical emergency.

Luke Griggs of the charity Headway says: "There is no hard and fast rule with head injuries.

"A seemingly innocuous injury can be fatal, as we have seen before with the sad situation with Natasha Richardson."

Liam Neeson's wife died from head injuries sustained in a skiing accident. She initially showed no sign of injury but about an hour later was taken to hospital after feeling unwell.

Schumacher had to be transported quickly to hospital to be operated on
Mr Griggs says: "With severe head injuries one of the difficulties we have got is that the symptoms can be delayed.

"Bruising and swelling does not happen immediately and it may take time for the damage to occur.

"That's why it is important to seek medical help, even if there are no symptoms."

Doctors say people who have had a head injury should be monitored for at least two days for any signs that their condition might be worsening.

Any drowsiness or loss of consciousness, balance problems, vomiting or severe headache is a warning that should not be ignored.

Dr Mike Langran, a GP and expert in ski injury research, said most ski resorts had medics on hand to deal promptly with these sorts of injuries.

"Accidents of this nature are, thankfully, rare events amongst skiers and snowboarders although of course they usually receive substantial media attention. As with any recreational activity however, it is impossible to completely remove all elements of risk when participating in snow sports."

He said wearing a helmet could help skiers to avoid or lessen such injuries.

Michael Schumacher remains in a critical condition following his skiing accident on Sunday.

Soldier Kills Danfo Driver Over Fare - so sad

For insisting that a soldier who boarded his vehicle must pay his fare, a commuter bus (danfo) driver has paid with his life.
The unidentified danfo driver with vehicle number LSD 451 XG parked at Obalende Bus Stop, near the BRT bus park, was said to have refused to move his vehicle from the park when the soldier who was in a mufti refused to pay any fare.

An argument was said to have ensued between them during which the soldier, said to be from Dodan Barracks in Ikoyi, strangled the driver.

The soldier, it was learnt, attempted to run after the deadly duel but commuters and passersby who witnessed the scene arrested him and told him to carry the corpse to the hospital.
Sensing that the soldier was about to be mobbed, a policeman at the scene phoned his colleagues at the Kam Selem Police Divisional Headquarters, Moloney Street and four police patrol vehicles with policemen arrived the scene.

A detachment of armed soldiers from nearby Dodan Barracks also arrived the scene to prevent the culprit from being killed by the mob.

The soldiers took away their colleague and the corpse to their barracks after dispersing hundreds of people baying for the soldier’s blood.

So sad, a little patience is what we need at these times. People are going through a lot and a little misunderstanding or quarrel is all that is needed to explode at the wrong person. Pls people be careful out there, walking away could just be the right thing to do now.

See you in 2014. Amen.

Is this the new way to offend Christians: Beyonce's 'Last Supper' pic causes controversy just hour after apologizing for using audio from Challenger tragedy on XO

Hours after apologising for using audio from the fatal Challenger mission for her song XO, Beyonce may be stirring up a new controversy with a quasi-religious Instagram snap posted on Monday.

In the photo, the pop superstar poses in front of a modern take on The Last Supper, painted by Leonardo DaVinci in the late 1490s that depicted Jesus's last meal with his disciples before his crucifixion.

Bey is sitting in front of the Messiah's spot in the middle of the table, wearing a lime green mini-skirt and revealing yellow bustiere with skinny straps and orange edging.

The 32-year-old did not add a caption to the snap leaving fans to conjecture on the meaning.
One posted: '__edenk87__ She's over being Queen Bey! I think she goin for Beysus!!! #notcool! I ain't feeling this shot... @ezwihapi'

But others just enjoyed the image without worrying about any possible connotations.

Mailonline

She needs to be a little more sensitive and not just think of making money. Sometimes our intentions might be good but we need to be careful how we go about it.

Ukrainian woman goes topless for the Pope

A leader of the Ukrainian feminist group Femen bared herself near St Peter’s Square on Thursday shouting “Christmas is cancelled!” in a protest against the Catholic Church’s stance on abortion.
Inna Shevchenko, 23, went topless and ran towards the square but was stopped by some 20 police officers.

She had “Christmas is Cancelled ” written across her chest.
The police quickly formed a barrier around the activist to prevent media from documenting the event.
Covered in a blanket, she was taken away in a police car as tourists and pilgrims looked on with bemusement.

Femen activists have targeted St Peter’s Square before, including on the eve of the conclave that elected Pope Francis in March, and have begun a series of protests in Christian centres in support of abortion laws.

Femen is a Ukrainian group whose members have drawn attention worldwide with nude stunts targeting a range of political and religious figures, including Italy’s ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Now, that is how to gain attention.

Nigerian lady excretes hard drugs inside aircraft

Chizoba Anya, a Nigerian lady, has excreted wraps of substance that tested positive for methamphetamine on-board a Qatar Airline Flight from Malaysia to Nigeria, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, said on Monday.
NDLEA said the 32-year old suspect was said to have aroused suspicion following her frequent visits to the toilet.

“On arrival at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos, three wraps of methamphetamine were found in her possession,” said Mitchell Ofoyeju, NDLEA spokesperson.
NDLEA commander at the Lagos Airport, Mr. Hamza Umar, said that the suspect while under observation excreted two additional wraps.

“The suspect was found with three wraps which she excreted in the aircraft. While she was under observation at the Lagos airport, she excreted two additional wraps of drugs. The five wraps which tested positive for methamphetamine weighed 80 grammes,” Umar said.
Preliminary investigation also revealed that the suspect left Ghana where she ingested the drugs to Malaysia.

“In Malaysia, she was denied entry and made to board another flight back to Nigeria. She started excreting the drugs at the airport in Malaysia,” NDLEA said.
The agency quoted the suspect as saying in her statement that she was offered half a million naira to smuggle the drugs to Malaysia.

“I was promised the sum of half a million naira but my problem started when I had immigration problem in Malaysia. I was denied entry and made to return to Nigeria after two days. While in the aircraft, I excreted three wraps and two other wraps in the NDLEA office,” Vivian stated.
Vivian, who hails from Onitsha, said that she just completed her Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business Administration at the Federal Polytechnic Oko, Anambra State.

“I just completed my HND programme and I am from a very poor family. I wanted to use the money they promised me to assist my siblings by smuggling the drug to Malaysia,” she added.

Burna Boy Angrily Exited The Headies 2013 for Losing Out to Sean Tizzle in the “Next Rated” Category

Bella Naija is reporting the following:
An exclusive report is just reaching us here at BellaNaija.com.

Music star Burna Boy exited The Headies 2013 on Thursday night when rising Afro pop star Sean Tizzle was announced winner of the Next Rated category.

The category has been chosen to honour the most promising musician during the period of nomination. The award comes with a brand new ride.

Sean Tizzle picked the award and got the keys to a Hyundai Tucson SUV.

As soon as Sean Tizzle was announced as the winner, Burna Boy left the venue, telling photographers including BellaNaija’s not to take his photos.
Our photographer captured images of a not-so-happy Burna Boy all dressed in black leaving the venue.

Some industry insiders at the event were overheard saying Burna Boy deserved the award more than his fellow nominees including Sean Tizzle, Dammy Krane, Seyi Shay and Phyno.

They went on to speculate that Burna Boy didn’t win the award because he is a GLO ambassador and the awards show is sponsored by a fellow telecommunications company MTN Nigeria.

First Transparent Tablet Lets You Touch From Both Sides and function as a remote control.

Transparent tablets may sound like something straight from science fiction, but it may not be long before translucent slates hit the market. Grippity claims to be the world's first see-through tablet to come with two-sided touch controls.

The recently launched Kickstarter campaign promises to deliver the slate by next fall. Grippity features a semi-transparent 7-inch 800 x 480 display, and both the front and rear panels support capacitive multi-touch input. Running on a Cortex A8 processor and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, you'll find 4GB of storage space with an SD card slot that adds up to 32GB of extra room. Grippity supports both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and also comes with IR blaster that allows it to function as a remote control.

While most of the tablet is semi-transparent, Grippity's top is solid so that users can hold the slate with their thumbs. Grippity creator Jacob Eichbaum claims that the tablet's partially translucent display makes it easier for users to type via a touch-screen keyboard. Since it supports rear and front touch controls, all 10 fingers can be used to type rather than just two, as Eichbaum demonstrates in Grippity's promotional video.

The tablet's rear controls are also designed to facilitate touch screen navigation in general. Typing and touching from the back panel rather than the front prevents users from obscuring the display's pixels with their fingers, Eichbaum says. This would theoretically make it easier to interact with small objects on-screen, such as links with tiny font.

It's unclear how much the tablet will cost when it launches, but Eichbaum is asking for $235 to reserve a slate for delivery by Oct. 24. Early birds can also opt to pre-order a Grippity for $159, but you'll have to act fast. Eichbaum has already sold 397 of the 500 limited Early Bird edition slates.

Grippity is the first transparent display tablet we're seeing come to market, but the concept itself isn't new. Samsung has been showing off tablets with transparent, 3D flexible displays since 2011.

2013: The Year in Letters and Notes

Ask Kelsi

In June, a blood red-inked letter popped up on Reddit. It sent a philandering dude on a twisted scavenger hunt to find his dumped belongings, after he hooked up with a girl named "Kelsi."

Although the letter was decorated with hearts and exclamation points, if words could kill, the dirt-baggy boyfriend to whom it was directed would surely be six feet under. He's probably still having nightmares — and looking for his belongings.

Fashola Condemns South Africa’s Treatment Of Nigerians At Mandela’s Funeral

Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State could not hold back harsh words for South Africans while paying tribute to Mandela on Monday. The governor had wondered why in spite of the huge sacrifice made by Nigeria to free South Africa from the claws of imperialists, Nigerians are being subjected to ridicule by South Africans.
According to the governor, “Nigeria paid a huge price for what South Africa has become today. I remember the anti-apartheid campaign was at the core of Nigerian foreign policy.” He then wondered why the British, who supported apartheid, could enter the country without any hassle while Nigerians needed a visa.

He added, “When you look at the part of the world where ovation is now the loudest, it was the part from where the pain was the most vicious. In a very cruel irony, history is being revised.
“The people, who collaborated with the government that enthroned apartheid at that time, are the people that are paying the biggest tribute now.”
The contribution of Nigerians to freeing both South Africa and Mandela was monumental. The commitment of Nigerians to put an end to apartheid in South Africa was so intense that the country was considered a leader of the Frontline States established to achieve democratic majority rule in South Africa. The group raised funds and soldiers to prosecute war against apartheid. Other members included Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Nigeria played a vital role in the establishment of the United Nations Special Committee Against Apartheid (UNSCAA). This was partly responsible for Nigeria occupying the chair of the committee more than any other country until it was scrapped.
Nigeria also established the Southern African Relief Fund (SARF), which was funded with deductions from the salary of every Nigerian worker, irrespective of rank, both in the public and private sectors as well as donations from ordinary Nigerians, including students.
The fund was disbursed by African National Congress (ANC) leaders and members as they saw fit.
Nigeria also provided scholarships for students from South Africa while South African freedom fighters whose passports were seized by the government were given Nigerian passports. Whenever South Africans protested against injustice, Nigerian students also took to the streets in support and solidarity. Nigerian musicians waxed albums in support of the anti-apartheid struggle, while Nigerian poets wrote poems to condemn racism in South Africa.
Nigeria never let go of any opportunity to denounce apartheid; Commonwealth Games were boycotted while the assets of British Petroleum (BP) were nationalised. Nigeria was a friend to those who opposed apartheid and an enemy to friends of the racists.
